Bushrangers Bush Band plays at bush dances, festivals, Australia Day performances, all types of parties, weddings, tourist venues, schools, fetes, street performances etc.  Not only performing bush music, we are all classically trained musicians and/or vocalists able to play a variety of music types.

Our repertoire covers songs from bushrangers (what Bushranger Bush Band wouldn't perform a bushranger song or two!!?), shearers, songs of the sea, drovers, mining, rebellion, traditional love songs, patriotic Australian songs, a dash of country and Celtic melodies and instrumentals and also a few "ring ins". We also perform songs of Banjo Paterson and Henry Lawson verse.  As well as performing with an Australiana flavour, we are able to add a touch of modern to our performances.  Some songs feature three part harmonies.

We also have a wide range of instruments which make a performance "interesting", with tin whistles in various keys, mandolin, fife, Irish flute, Appalachian dulcimer, harmonica, bodhran, bass guitar, guitars and lagerphone. Each member of the band is multi-talented and plays a number of instruments.

For bush dances all dancing tuition is provided by our dance-caller "extraordinaire". Our dances cater for all ages and talents and include many of the "old favourite" dances such as Hokey Pokey, Heel/Toe Polka, Drongo, and many many more.

Barry
Barry is the dance-caller in the band and he calls most of the many dances the band plays.

He studied classical guitar for many years and in the band he plays guitar, bass guitar, bodhran and harmonica and is currently studying fiddle. He also plays a "mean" lagerphone.

He has been a member of a number of other bands over many years and is a regular performer at local folk clubs.

Helen
Helen is a vocalist in the band and sings harmony in some songs.  She plays lead instrument which could be one of the following: tin whistle in various keys, fife, Irish flute, mandolin, or Appalachian dulcimer. Helen also plays guitar. She is a classically trained guitarist as well as a classically trained flute player who has adopted the Irish style of flute playing.

She has been a member of a number of other bands over many years and is a regular performer at local folk clubs.

Garry
Garry is a vocalist in the band, sometimes harmonising with Sue and Helen and occasionally calls a dance or two. Garry plays lead instrument (along with Helen). He plays synthesizer guitar and midi guitar, mandolin, whistle and flute. He has been formally trained in classical guitar and has played in classical guitar ensembles, and played oboe in a Symphony Orchestra. He has tertiary qualifications in Guitar theory and Practise and is being tutored in voice by wife, Sue. Garry is an electrical engineer by trade and he designs and builds some of the band's equipment and amplifiers.

Sue
Sue finds singing an easy task, having had classical voice training. She is the lead vocalist in the band and plays rhythm guitar and percussion and demonstrates dances on the floor.

In 1985 she took up playing the guitar, initially self-taught but in more recent years she has ventured into classical guitar training with husband, Garry as her tutor.
